Changes and cancellations
- All events are subject to change, including advertised dates, speakers, locations and ticket prices.
- Development and Alumni Relations reserves the right to cancel an event due to low enrolment or other circumstances which would make the event non-viable
Chargeable events
- Events are run on a not-for-profit basis, and any booking or admin fees charged are to cover costs such as room hire, catering, staffing and speaker expenses.
- You can cancel your event booking up to 14 days before the event and receive a refund minus a £3.00 admin fee, except where the event is sold out. Please see each event page for the exact cancellation date. Any cancellation received after this date will not be refunded.
- If Development and Alumni Relations cancel an event, registrants will be offered a full refund, including the admin fee. However, any expenses (including travel) incurred due to the cancellation will not be refunded. We recommend having travel insurance in place, especially for those travelling from abroad, to cover any unforeseen circumstances that are not refundable by the event organisers.
- Should circumstances arise that result in the postponement of an event, registrants can either receive a full refund minus a £3.00 admin fee or transfer registration to the same event at the new, future date or another session within the same event.
- Refunds can only be processed online for the Alumni Festival. For all other events, please contact the office at events@alumni.cam.ac.uk.
- If cancelling via e-mail, please e-mail a copy of your original receipt or confirmation email, including your reference number. You will receive a refund of your booking minus an admin fee of £3.00.
- If the event is sold out, refunds will only be given if we are able to resell the tickets concerned. A £3.00 admin fee per ticket will be charged.
- Refunds will not be given to anyone who does not attend an event on the day, including latecomers, unless due to the organiser's actions.
- Only the person who made the original booking or the credit card holder can make refund requests.
- Regrettably, Development and Alumni Relations cannot refund registrants for weather-related travel issues; please check weather forecasts and make travel arrangements accordingly.
- Unless otherwise noted in the corresponding event materials, the above policies apply to all Development and Alumni Relations Events. Please read all individual event information thoroughly.
Alumni Group events
- All events are subject to change at the discretion of the organising Alumni Group.
- The Alumni Group reserves the right to cancel an event due to low enrolment or other circumstances which would make the event non-viable.
- Cancellations and refunds will be made subject to the organising Alumni Group’s policies.
- Cancellations and requests for refunds made online will be passed on to the organising Alumni Group by the University, and will be dealt with by the relevant Alumni Group.
- Payment for Alumni Group events will be made directly to the relevant Alumni Group. The University does not handle money on behalf of the groups.
SMS event booking reminders
Where we offer this service, if you provide your mobile (cell) number, we will send one text message (SMS) reminder approximately 24 hours before the event starts to the number you provide. Your mobile number will be stored and used in accordance with our privacy policy and data protection statement.
- We cannot control certain factors relating to message delivery and depending on the recipient's mobile service provider, it may not be possible to transmit the SMS message to the recipient successfully.
- There is no charge from us for sending the SMS reminder. However, we are not responsible for any charges made by mobile phone network providers that you may incur for the provision of this service, for example if you are roaming.
